Step 4. Positioning and stabilizing the wound retractors

The Gripper is a disposable table mounted orthostatic retractor placement device. The device is attached to the flat ended retractor through the slot. Both hooks are attached to the fixation poles that are attached to the OR table. Both strings provide a three point fixation through a pulley system along with the muscles. This fixation is inherently stable during acetabular and femoral preparation. The Gripper fixation poles are attached to the side bar of the OR table. The long fixation poles are at the contralateral side and the short ones on the ipsilateral side, just opposite the longer ones. The poles are positioned opposite to each other. The distal ones are just proximal to the patella and the cranial ones are at the level of the kidneys. After coverage of the patient with the EsySuit , the hooks of the Gripper are fixed to the poles. The reinforced parts of the EsySuit prevents the suit to tear when the hook is attached to the poles.  The Gripper can be attached to flat-ended retractors that fit into the slot. The slot is fixed to the retractor
